Format: Partners In Empowerment™
(PIE)
Stakeholder participation in planning is fundamental
to democracy, peace and sustainability.
Emphasizing what each sector has to contribute, the
Partners In Empowerment (PIE) model engages a wide range of stakeholders
promoting transfer of knowledge, technology and other vital resources
to achieve a sustainable world.
Empowering all voices to be heard, PIE serves as the
foundation for developing The Global Summit's citizen input driven global
solution making system.
The following social and economic
sectors are the foundation of the PIE model and emerging partnership
network:
For-Impact Organizations– “Social & environmental action & advocacy groups ensuring
those most affected by policies have input.” (Community Based Groups/ Nonprofits,
Foundations, Govt. Service Agencies)
Education & Research Institutions –
“Advancing research, understanding, technologies and other tools for
a sustainable world.” (Private, Govt.& Nonprofit groups)
For-Profit Businesses
– “Private sector entities having a positive impact on local communities
and harnessing market forces to build a sustainable world.” (Established
and aspiring private sector corporations and related advocacy groups)
Media & Communications Groups –
“An informed public is vital to democracy. Responsible Media Groups
uphold truth in journalism & conscious messaging.” (Established
and aspiring Print, Radio, Web, Events, Public Information Agencies)
Artists in Action
- “Whether through visual art, music or poetry, Artists speak with integrity
and the world listens” (Musicians, Visual Artists, Actors and other
creative vehicles of social change)
Social Entrepreneurs – “Just
as a private sector entrepreneur seeks financial profit, Social Entrepreneurs
create solutions benefiting people & the planet.” (Established
and aspiring pro-actionaries, non-profit leaders & governmental
policy makers)
Wondering, "Where is Government?"
Answer = It's in the PIE. The
PIE model both reinforces democratic institutions and serves as a participative
local action opportunity. This supports community collaboration with
existing governmental programs and non profits to best meet social,
economic, and environmental needs.
Why PIE?
Whether a media group leads a cause-based marketing
campaign to stop AIDS, a university creates greener technology, or an
artist inspires a child in need, social, economic and environmental
impact is deepened through collaboration of six mutually supportive
PIE sectors.
Rather than emphasizing diverse issues or topics such
as health, economics, ecology, etc. PIE emphasizes peoples ROLES based
on what we have to contribute- these roles are universal and can be
applied to any challenge a community or region faces.
For example—nonprofits interested in clean water in
Zimbabwe can join with environmental engineers in Germany specializing
in water purification systems, while conferencing with technologists
worldwide looking to expand their network, in addition to collaborating
with foreign policy makers looking for traction, and journalists that
seek exposure. Each meets their specific, individual goals within the
broader context of creating a more sustainable society.
