Fostering whole system self-reliance
The Global Summit impact doesn't stop when participants go home. In delivering two universal action frameworks to enable collaboration amongst its diverse participants, and a sustainable funding system promoting best practices in Asset-Based Community-Driven Development, The Global Summit is a catalyst for collaborative impact 365 days a year.
The first framework is a project development road-map called "7 Stages to Sustainability (7SS)" - empowering communities to use their local assets to create sustainable futures. Second, is a multi-sector participatory framework & network called "Partners in Empowerment (PIE)".
Linking diverse PIE Sectors in the 7SS projects enables diverse social and economic sectors to participate more fully in locally-led initiatives. This new shared understanding allows local organizers to access the vast array of skills, services and other resources that their grass-roots communities need.
The impacts of having a shared language for collaboration are two-fold:
1) Promote coherence across social, economic and environmental movements, and
2) Reduce duplication and increase collective impact.
Synergy Fund: Leveraged Philanthropy
Forming a synergistic philanthropic partnership, the "Synergy Fund" seizes this opportunity to leverage donor resources AND local assets by promoting the practice of 7SS framework in sustainable development.
How it works:
To support the development of a global community of practice in 7 Stages to Sustainability (7SS), registrants of The Global Summit, and trainees in other 7SS educational forums, will be eligible for Synergy Grants.
In the same way standards are being adopted for evaluation tools or that common grant applications are used, donors who share the principals of transparency, measurable results and proven best practices in Asset-Based Community Development are invited to co-create and support "Synergy" criteria.
The Global Summit 2012 will host discussions around this & other leveraged philanthropy strategies.
